Dear participants of the projects of the program "Development of scientific bases for the production, storage and use of hydrogen in autonomous energy supply systems
Horizon 2020 is coming to an end.
The latest competitions (Green Deal) have been announced, which correspond to the main provisions of the transition to a climate-neutral model of European development by 2050 as a new economic narrative. The main provisions of this course are set out in the appeal of the European Commission to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, presented in December 2019 in the form of the European Green Agreement.
The tasks of the competitions under the Green Agreement will be to mobilize research and innovation that will promote a real and sustainable social transition, "leaving no one behind." The projects are expected to deliver tangible and visible results relatively quickly and demonstrate how research and innovation can provide concrete solutions to the main priorities of the Green Agreement. Within the framework of competitions, support will be provided to:
⇒ pilot programs, demonstration projects and innovative products;
⇒ innovations and digital transformations for better management of green technologies;
⇒social innovation and the creation of new value chains.
The competitions, the specific topics of which were announced on September 22, 2020, cover 11 sections. 8 of them reflect the key areas of activity under the European Green Agreement. The themes of the competitions are focused on specific, highly effective technological and social innovations that will promote rapid and sustainable transformations.
These sections provide the following.
Section 1: Increasing Climate Ambitions: Preventing Climate Change and Reducing the Impact of Its Effects.
Section 2: Clean, affordable and safe energy: development of various energy sources with decreasing share of hydrocarbons in consumption.
Section 3: Industry for a clean and circular economy: development of new materials and environmentally friendly technologies.
Section 4: Energy and resource efficient construction.
Section 5: Sustainable and "smart" mobility: addressing the burden of reducing all modes of transport on the environment.
Section 6: "From the field to the table": ensuring healthy nutrition through the development and application of innovative technologies for land use and processing of agricultural products, implementation of the strategy "Farm to Fork Strategy - for a fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food system" - for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system ").
Chapter 7: Restoring Biodiversity and Ecosystems: Implementing the European Biodiversity Strategy (Q&A), which provides for broad international cooperation.
Section 8: Environment without toxic waste and pollution: development of technological solutions to reduce air pollution, natural resources with chemicals from industrial and pharmaceutical industries, implementation of the initiative "Chemicals: a strategy for sustainability (non-toxic EU environment)".
The three horizontal sections (knowledge enhancement; empowerment; international cooperation) are cross-sectoral, covering all eight thematic sections and aiming to provide long-term perspectives for achieving the transformations set out in the European Green Agreement.
Chapter 9: Expanding our knowledge to ensure the implementation of the European Green Agreement.
Chapter 10: Empowering citizens to move to a climate-neutral sustainable Europe.
Chapter 11: Accelerate the transition to and access to clean energy in partnership with African countries.
The deadline for submitting project proposals is January 26, 2021.
