Abstract

The consolidation features of nanocrystalline powder of composition 95 mole% ZrO2–2 mole% CeO2-3 mole% Y2O3 under cold uni-axial two-sided pressing, cold isostatic pressing (60 and 120 MPa) and sintering were investigated. Five initial powders were produced as a result of processing of suspension after hydrothermal decomposition under different conditions. It was found, that the homogeneous microstructure of ceramics was produced from the powder, which was obtained with two homogenized grinding. Densities of sintered samples after cold uni-axial pressing and cold isostatic pressing were 0.96–0.94. Bending strength was 600–660 MPa. In order to make the consolidation of ceramics more effective complex processing of initial nanocrystalline powders is necessary. It allows to vary their morphological features.
