Abstract

It is shown the principal possibility of obtaining surface coatings by self-propagating high-temper- ature synthesis (SHS) using concentrated solar irradiation (CSI). This method simplifies the process of coverage obtaining, reduces its cost and saves the environment. Suspensions of powder mixtures were deposited on sub- strates of steel, aluminum and graphite. Processes of preheating and ignition performed in solar furnaces, cre- ated on the basis of paraboloidal concentrators with diameters of 1, 2 and 5 m. The coatings of NiTi, ALNI, NiTiAl, NiTiCr, NiAlCr, TiC, NiTiC were made. X-ray phase analysis and study the tribological properties of the coatings were carried out.
