Abstract

In this study, crystalline and noncrystalline materials with different compositions and phase and structural states are examined by the instrumented indentation method. Based on the previously obtained fundamental equation of indentation НIT / Е* = 0.687ctgα(hs/hс), it is shown that the ratio of noncontact and contact indentation depths (hs/hс) characterizes the mechanical properties of specific material under loading of this type. Analysis of indentation results using the new processing methodology allows identifying the structural state of materials on small samples.
