Numerical simulation of pressing and hot stamping of a complex part serving as a support of a bar in a setup used for exploring shafts in gas and oil extraction has been accomplished. The design of this part presumes the existence of a relatively thin wear-resistant layer manufactured from a powder carbidosteel that is later embedded into the base that is made from carbon iron. Peculiarities of powder material flow were investigated by numerical simulation method. Main relationships of plasticity theory for porous bodies were used as a base for modeling. Determination of porosity distribution, stress and strain fields was accomplished by using an in-house design version of the finite elements method. Two possibilities of the complex part shaping were considered for two different values of the green body density. In the first case the green height and the green porosity of the wear-resistant layer were bigger while in the second both values were lower. It was shown that in the first case strain distribution in the upper part of the resulting complex part was more uniform and its overall values sufficiently higher than in the second considered case. Thus, the first scheme of compaction will result in higher final properties of the hard, wear-resistant layer.
