Abstract

The dependence of the phase constitution and strength of B4C–AlN composites on the initial charge constitution and hot pressing temperature is studied. It is established that the formation of composites with the synthesis of new reinforcing phases takes place during reaction sintering under pressure. The optimum modes of producing B4C–AlN composites are determined. The composites have quite high strength reserve and may be used as components of armor protection of military equipment.
