Abstract

The structurization during alloying of Kh18N15 powder stainless steel with chromium and manganese nitrides is studied. It is established that the base of stainless steel–chromium nitride material is additionally alloyed with chromium and nitrogen during its structurization. If steel is alloyed with manganese nitride, complex chromium–manganese nitride forms in the material after quenching at 950 °C. One part of the nitride reacts with the base material and the other is evaporated. To prevent nitrogen losses, stainless steel compacts must be subjected to combined nitriding, in which one part of nitrogen is added as chromium and manganese nitride powders and the other is introduced during heat treatment in nitrogen-containing environments.
