Abstract

Effect of manganese silicide (MnSi1,77) additive content in the original charge and sintering temperature on the structure and properties of sintered steels was investigated. It was shown that the application of manganese silicide (despite a slight decrease in the density of sintered samples) significantly increases the hardness and strength properties of the alloys. According to an electron microprobe analysis of sintered steels, it was established that manganese is rather uniformly distributed in iron particles, whereas the nature of silicon distribution is significantly different: its higher concentration is mainly seen along the grain boundaries.
